Young Adult (YA) books are hotter than ever. Spurred on by Twilight and The Hunger Games, many adults as well as teens are reading them. So the addition of Soho Teen (a new division of Soho Press) is welcome news.

Soho Teen just released its inaugural title What We Saw At Night by Jacquelyn Mitchard, best-selling author of The Deep End of the Ocean. This new YA novel is about a 16 year old who suffers from a fatal allergy to sunlight.

“In a small hospital town, a trio of teens rebel against their fatal diagnosis of XP (an allergy to sunlight) with late night Parkour, an extreme sport of daredevil risks-and while doing so uncover a human devil in their midst.”

Soon to be released in February is Who Done It?: An Anthology, edited by Jon Scieszka. YA fans will love this as well-known YA authors are character in the book:

“When the world’s most horrible editor turns up dead, investigator Jon Scieszka has his work cut out for him. The suspect list is long. Very long. Think 83-famous-YA-authors long, including Libba Bray, David Levithan, John Green, Lemony Snicket, Lauren Myracle…you get the picture. They’ve all got alibis, collected in this very anthology. But the question is…Who done it?”

Upcoming Soho Teen titles will include the paranormal and dystopian, the humorous and realistic and the tragic and uplifting. Although their imprint list is small, one book a month for now, their titles are exciting. In addition to the above, check out future Soho Teen titles such as Escape Theory in March, Strangelets in April, The Sweet Dead Life in May and Deviant in June.

You can read excerpts of each of these first six books on the Soho Teen website. Soon you will be eagerly awaiting each month’s new book release.
