Every New Year’s Eve we make resolutions without any plan on how to achieve the goals we set forth. Well believe it or not, the U.S. government wants to help you. Every year on the USA.gov website, they list the most popular resolutions and information that can help you achieve your goals.

I published this list of New Year’s Resolutions 3 years ago from the government website and there is one change. There were only 12 resolutions listed then. The new resolution added is “Eating Healthy Food”.

The 13 top New Year’s Resolutions going into 2014 are:

  1. Lose Weight
  2. Volunteer to Help Others
  3. Quit Smoking
  4. Get a Better Education
  5. Get a Better Job
  6. Save Money
  7. Get Fit
  8. Eat Healthy Food
  9. Manage Stress
  10. Manage Debt
  11. Take a Trip
  12. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
  13. Drink Less Alcohol

The government wants to help you achieve these New Year’s Resolutions. If you want free information on achieving any of the goals on this list, then visit the USA.org Popular New Year’s Resolutions Page and click on the resolution you are interested in. You will be taken to another page with information, help, links and often, free materials you can send away for or print out.

I also happened to find, when I was browsing through the App store, that there are at least a handful of New Year’s resolution apps available, such as the one pictured above, New Years Resolutions 2014 FREE. I have not tested any so I can’t recommend any in particular, but all of the resolution apps I saw were free, so it can’t hurt to try them.

New Year's Resolutions

Have a very very Happy New Year and a great 2014. I wish you great luck with your New Year’s Resolutions! Don’t forget to take advantage of the free materials the government has for you and try out some of the New Year’s resolutions apps available.

  1. Most of those resolutions are on my list!

  2. These are on my list! Always important to better yourself for the New Year!

  3. I’m hoping they didn’t use my tax dollars to put together that list 😉 A few of them I share – especially take a trip!

  4. A hot topic for the day 🙂 So funny the government has a guide!

  5. I never knew the government had a guide to resolutions. Seems sort of an odd thing for them to make, particularly if it cost money.
