I recently attended a technology showcase called Pepcom that is held in New York City a few times a year. I wanted to share with you some of the cool new gadgets, websites, tech products and more that caught my eye, which I probably won’t be reviewing, for one reason or another. I did not receive anything from any of these companies and these are just descriptions, not reviews, but products that you might want to look into on your own.

Autographer –  Autographer is the  first intelligent, wearable camera. It automatically captures images hands-free, allowing people to live in the moment rather than behind a lens, changing the way photographs are taken.  I love this idea.  One of the reasons that I don’t take many pictures is that I don’t like seeing everything through the eye of a camera. The built-in GPS allows you to see where each picture was taken.

Dashlane – Dashlane is a free Password Manager that makes is easy to securely manage your passwords. Dashboard also includes secure Autofill and Digital Wallet. I’ve always been leery of online password managers but Dashlane has received great reviews and rewards by top websites so it is worth checking out and making your own decision.

DigiPals – DigiPals are adorable mobile device cases made with a layer of soft microfiber cloth on the inside, protecting kid’s devices against scratches and safely ridding screens of fingerprints and dirt. And they come in a choice of four cuddly animals.

LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 –  is a new Lego robotics platform designed to introduce a younger generation to the excitement of building, programming and playing with robots.  However  its devoted  following of robotics enthusiasts will enjoy it also. This new set can be used by teens and tweens from the age of 10 up. Lego Mindstorms EV3 is a combination of the Lego building set with extremely advanced technology added. The result is a very creative robotics set that tweens, teens and adults can have fun and learn with.

Mozilla – I used the Mozilla Firefox Browser for years before I switched to Chrome. After speaking to a few Mozilla reps at Pepcom, I was reminded of a few things about Mozilla that I forgot. Mozilla is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to making the Web better. Firefox does have the most add-ons of any browser on the web. And, the new Firefox OS is Mozilla’s new mobile operating system, based entirely on HTML5. So, what am I going to do. I’m not going to stop using Chrome because I have everything synced up with my Google account. But it is always a good idea to have more than one browser, so I am downloading Firefox also.

NeatConnect – NeatConnect is a scanner that doesn’t require a computer. Just load your paper, use the touchscreen interface to send the file to the cloud of your choice and you are done.  A 3-month neat cloud subscription is included or you can use SkyDrive, Evernote, Dropbox, Google Drive, box, Email or FTP. It isn’t cheap, but I would so love to have one of these.

YesVideo – Preserve your home videos to digital easily. Just place your order online, you will receive a shipping box and ship your videos. They even accept the old film reels that were used when I was a child. Within about two weeks your videos will be online for you to watch easily as often as you like. You can purchase DVDs and choose which scenes you want on them. With a new app you can even view your pictures on your iPad. (see image at top of page).

I hope that some of these new gadgets, websites,  tech products or anything sparked your interest. I plan to on reviewing some of the other products I saw at Pepcom in the near future. If money was no object, which of these cool gadgets would you most want to have?
