Last week I was a featured blogger on Generation Fabulous, an online magazine focusing on the lives of women over 40.  Chloe Jeffreys, CEO and Founder of Generation Fabulous interviewed me as the blogger of Connect with your Teens through Pop Culture and Technology. This interview on blogging allowed me to open up and share my thoughts on some of the topics most important to me.

In addition to discussing keeping up-to-date with pop culture and technology to connect with your teens, we also talked about how important it is for parents to understand technology for safety reasons. We talked about girls and media and getting more girls into technology and how education must change. Of course, no interview with me would be complete without a discussion of the benefits of video games, ever since I published my book, The Gamer Generation: Reaping the Benefits of Video Games. And then we finished up the interview on blogging by talking about social good which is something I have been writing about more and more recently.

I hope you enjoy:

While I love to write about my love of pop culture and technology and the importance of connecting through it, and mostly these are light, fun subjects, you can see from the interview that there are heavier subjects that I care dearly about also. I am happy that I can also share these topics on my blog and help get the word out about charities, girl’s and women’s issues, and education.

  1. As a mother to three teens (and two younger) I really appreciate ANY insight into teens, internet and social media. It’s very interesting to navigate these new, tricky waters. SOme of it I love, some of it scares me!

  2. That’s awesome Jen! It’s been forever since the Sony event! How are you girl?

  3. I’m finding I have to constantly change my field of study to stay up to date on what the kids like. This really does allow a better connection and lines of communication with my kids. They love their video games, and books and legos. Yeah, mine are tweens and not yet teens. But the idea still works with them too.

What a fun interview. It is great to be able to share the more serious topics in addition to the light and fun ones we love to share.

  4. Kids are definitely growing up in an age of lots of media. Thanks for sharing!
