Have Fun With Google’s I’m Feeling Lucky Button

Do you want to have fun with Google? That’s right. I’m not going to show you how to search better using Google. However, you can have a great deal of fun and also discover and learn quite a bit with the new features of the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button.

Okay, this feature isn’t brand new. It was rolled out by Google in August 2012. But I’m betting many of you still haven’t found it yet. When you are on the main Google search page, under the search bar are two buttons to click, “Google Search” and “I’m Feeling Lucky”. The only thing that clicking the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button does is it shows you the first item that would come up in the search. I never use it because why would I want to be limited to one result.

However, here is where the fun comes in. Hover your mouse over the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button and it will spin like a slot machine. A variety of things will come up, such as “I’m feeling Playful” and when you click on each of them you are taken to a new related page each day. Here is what you will find:

  1. I’m Feeling Wonderful – Google World Wonders Project
  2. Trendy – Google Hot Searches
  3. Artistic – Art from Google’s Art Project
  4. Puzzled – Puzzles to solve
  5. Hungry – A Google map of restaurants nearby
  6. Stellar – Beautiful pictures of the night sky from Google Earth
  7. Doodly – Google doodles
  8. Playful – You never know
Although Google is sending you to other Google pages, they are all great pages that I am happy to spend time on. I am enjoying this very much and try to remember to go to all 8 of these once a day. Try it and let me know what you think.
