Glee PSA on Distracted Driving

Glee PSA on Distraced Driving

During the episode On My Way in this past season of Glee, the character of Quinn, a teenager about to graduate from high school, got into a terrible car accident because she was texting while driving. I thought that this was a great opportunity to spread the word on the dangers of distracted driving and now finally there is a major campaign to do just that.

Glee PSA on Distraced Driving

Yesterday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the State Attorneys General and Consumer Protection Agencies and the Ad Council joined with Twentieth Century Fox Television and Twentieth Century Fox HomeEntertainment to unveil new public service advertisements (PSAs) featuring scenes from season three of Fox’s hit TV series “Glee” to educate young adult drivers (16-24) of the dangers of texting while driving.

Watch this video clip of Quinn’s accident below:

On Glee, Quinn wound up paralyzed from the waist down and in a wheel chair after her accident. I think that the producers of Glee made a mistake having Quinn recover. It would have sent a much stronger message if her distracted driving led to permanent consequences. However, the scene in which Quinn is hit by a car while texting was very powerful.

Please share this with every teen and young adult you know that drives. Adults are also guilty of distracted driving, although not as often from texting. Share these images and help save a life.

  1. It certainly is a dangerous habit as is talking on a cell phone while driving. We got hit once by someone doing that. It is so important to be responsible with the wonderful technology we have now days.

  2. This is a great campaign. I’ve seen people, young and old doing everything from texting, to applying makeup to eating while driving. I really hope ads like this help.

  3. I hope this ad helps also. Texting when driving is insane and I hope eventually everyone will understand that.

  4. Thank you for supporting this awesome campaign. It is so clear that we must stop distracted driving. It seems the only way to drive the point home is to show the horror that a text can cause and the pain that those little digital characters create for many others.

  5. This is something we all need to remember. Just teaching a teen to drive right now…great reminder.

  6. This is such an important message and I’m so glad that a program with the impact of Glee was able to highlight the consequences.

  7. So important. Thanks for sharing and helping spread the word. I’ve been guilty of texting and driving and it very, very dangerous.

I think having her die as a result also would have sent a stronger message.

  8. Very important message. My husband sees tragic consequences of texting-while-driving, frequently.
