Every year, the last week in June, the Consumer Electronics Association brings CE week to NYC. This expo and line show is so much easier to deal with than the enormous CES that takes place in Las Vegas every January. And I still get to discover many great new gadgets and technologies.
Here are some of my favorite gadgets from CE Week. I do not have any of these gadgets nor have I tested them. These are gadgets that sparked my interest.
This Sony tablet has some groundbreaking features, one of which you won’t believe. It is the slimmest tablet in the world – 6.9mm! And it weighs under 500 grams. Yet it is still a full-size HD 10.1″ tablet. Now, the unbelievable feature – You can place the Xperia Tablet Z under water and wipe it off and it works perfectly. It has the highest level of water resistance of any tablet. I would call it waterproof from the demonstrations. Amazing. Click the link in the heading to learn more about it.
Spreengs are printed greeting cards that you send by mail, but that you can add video into. So now, you can send video greeting cards to anyone, even grandma who doesn’t use a computer. Each card includes a digital screen and a set of speakers. And the nice thing is that the recipient can display the card for friends to see. Visit the Springs website to learn more about it and see the cards. (warning, if you are in a public place turn your speaker volume off as music is playing on the site).
This is a really cool looking stand that was recently funded on Kickstarter. It is the first fully adjustable NanoSuction stand and works with just about any phone and tablet, anywhere.
Dockr is another great new gadget that was funded on Kickstarter. inNuevo is a minority and woman-owned firm specializing in product design. And what a great product they designed. The Dockr is a 6-in-1 gadget for your iPad needs. It is a battery charging stand, speakers, keyboard, offers flexible viewing, protective case and adds color and style. I think many of these colors would make them especially great for teens.
What if there was a completely secure way for you to save all your passwords and not have to remember them any more. myIDkey is the first fingerprint, voice-search, secure Bluetooth / USB drive that displays passwords and ID on the go as well as works with all smart mobile devices and personal computers. You can only unlock your myIDkey by scanning your fingerprint, that is how secure it is. You can connect via USB or Bluetooth and it is so small you can add it to your key chain. And I know this is going to sound like a quote from Mission Impossible, but it even self-destructs if stolen!
When I see so many of you typing away on your smartphones so quickly, I don’t know how you do it. Between my big fingers and bad eyesight it is so difficult for me. That is why I fell in love with One2Touch the second I saw it displayed at CE Week. Although, I then found that right now it is only available for Android phones. The keyboard can be folded up to take with you wherever you go. All you do is download a driver from Google Play and no pairing is necessary. Then you put your phone in the middle of the keyboard and you can type normally.
With Strotter tablet bags and cases, you can work while standing or watch a movie with without a stand with both hands free. When carrying your tablet, you can carry like a backpack, a purse, or in multiple ways. There are two designs – the Across, a slim case and the Platforma, an even more multi-function messenger bag.
Some of these cool new gadgets are not fully available yet, but if not they will be soon. I will be writing about more of the gadgets that I saw at CE Week soon. Those that I received review units of will be getting full reviews. So stay tuned. Which of the above gadgets are you most likely to buy?
