Emily Owens M.D.: CW Medical Series for Teens and Young Adults

The fall 2012 TV premiere season is not over yet. Emily Owens M.D. will premiere on the CW on Tuesday night, October 16, at 9pm ET/PT. It stars Mamie Gummer (daughter of Meryl Streep) as Emily Owens, a brand new first year intern. She finds that life in the hospital is not so different from high school.

Emily Owens M.D. is a perfect series for the CW as it will appeal most to teenagers and young adults. It has much in common with the first season of Grey’s Anatomy with young interns trying to get by. However the focus of Emily Owens M.D. is more on the cliques and other similarities to high school life.

I liked Emily Owens M.D., however I think that those in the millennial age group will really enjoy it. This could be a great TV series for parents and teens to watch together as it could lead to discussions of high school woes. Give it a try.

  1. Sounds like a good program. Sounds like the cast will be great as well.

  2. Looks like a grey’s anatomy remake. I think it looks funny and charming.

  3. I’m a sucker for Doctor/nurse shows. Don’t know why, since I’ve spent way too much time in hospitals lately.

  4. I am struck by how much Mamie Gummer resembles her mom, especially the young Meryl Streep that lives in my mind’s eye. Hope it’s a big success!
