Video games are always a great gift to buy teens and tweens for the holidays. The only difficult part is figuring out which games to buy. Here is a list of hot new games for a variety of platforms. There should be something in here for everyone.

1. Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! (available for the Nintendo 3DS) – Learn to draw and paint, exploring the theory and techniques behind art, at your own pace. Or start an art project in Free Paint. For all ages, beginners to advanced.

2. Assassin’s Creed III (available for all gaming systems) – The American Colonies, 1775. It’s a time of civil unrest and political upheaval in the Americas. As a Native American assassin fights to protect his land and his people,he will ignite the flames of a young nation’s revolution. (Mature)

3. Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two (available 11/18 for all gaming systems) – Join Mickey and Oswald in an epic battle to save the magical world of Wasteland and change it forever. Interact with your favorite characters like never before in the most heroic adventure yet.

4. FIFA Soccer 13 – (available for all gaming systems) – One of the most highly rated sports video games, FIFA 13 captures all the drama and unpredictability of real-world soccer, and is driven by five game-changing innovations which revolutionize artificial intelligence, dribbling, ball control and physical play. It is the largest and deepest feature set in the history of the franchise.

5. The Hip Hop Dance Experience (available 11/13 on Kinect for the Xbox 360 and on Nintendo’s Wii system) – The Hip Hop Dance Experience is the latest installment in the chart-topping Experience dance game franchise and releases this November, just in time for people to swoop up this dance game gem.

6. Just Dance 4 – (available for Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii) – This high octane, family-fun game is back.  The new Just Dance 4 comes with a 40-strong tracklist featuring songs such as Carly Jepsen’s “Call me Maybe,” to One Direction’s “You’re Beautiful” as well as “Good Feeling” by Flo Rida. This game is perfect for all ages to have fun together.

7. Marvel’s The Avengers Battle for Earth (available 12/4 for Xbox 360 with Kinect and the Wii U system) Ubisoft and Marvel Entertainment have joined forces to develop a video game based on the Avengers characters and other heroes and villains from the Marvel Universe. Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth’s interactive environments are inspired by Marvel comic artwork.  This game is ideal for all ages and gamers on your gift list.

8. Nancy Drew: The Deadly Device (available for PC and Mac) – Fear lingers in a remote laboratory after a physicist’s suspicious demise. A police investigation results in nothing except a case as cold as the secretive personalities and steel walls that enshroud a top-secret Tesla-inspired facility. That’s why the lab owner asked you, as Detective Dancy Drew, to expose the terrifying truth aboout the The Deadly Device.

9. New Super Mario Bros U – (available 11/18 for the Wii U) –  A Wii U launch title, New Super Mario Bros. U offers a new way to experience Mario fun like never before. Game features include: support for up to five players, the new Boost Mode and Challenge Mode, unique uses for Mii’s, and new block elements that can be used as navigation aids.

10. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (available 11/20 for PS3 and PSVita) – A crossover brawler style fighting game featuring over 20 first, and third party characters famous from a range of game franchises. Each playable character has its own unique set of attacks and moves, and the game features 1-4 player multiplayer mash-up action, both online and in local play at home.

11.  Rabbids Land (availability 11/13 for the Wii U) – Taking place in the beloved amusement park and geared towards both adults and children.  Rabbids decide to take over the amusement park and plan to make the most of their day out by invading all of the attractions!

12. Rocksmith (re-launch, available for Xbox, PS3 and PC) – A big hit in 2011 that ushered in a new era of authentic music games, Rocksmith will re-launch this year and include bass guitar in the updated version. For those who already own Rocksmith, the bass content can be purchased on September 4. This game is perfect for the music lover in your family who may want to learn how to play guitar and bass guitar using a real instrument.

13. Wonderbook: Book of Spells (available 11/13 for PS3 with PS Move) – Book of Spells is the first title for Wonderbook, a unique single-player virtual reading/entertainment experience exclusive to PlayStation 3. The PlayStation Move motion controller serves as the players’ wand, and the voice recognition capabilities of the PlayStation Eye allow for player vocalization of spells.
